wherever you may run away, there will be squid

Space squid, at that. (Hi Valis!)

Ahahaha. The post of prompts-from-hell was highly amusing. And the dated naming convention of manga fandoms? Bugger it. I don't care, and especially I won't conform to it. The entire top/bottom, seme/uke crap bores the stuffing out of me, no matter where I find it. I think it might be people more interested in wanking than in writing good stories who use their time on crap like that. Hm.

Also, better sign up because I will, and I've nominated Haru, FAKE and Boku.

How are you, darling? *hugs*

*sadface* I haven't ruled out pinch-hitting, but I have just enough self-preservation left to sit out the main draw this year. If I work on anything the rest of this year (and that's a huge "if," between estate work and easel IOUs), it's going to be part 4 of "Not as Dumb," since the person who requested it will have been waiting for over a year.

Doing okay in general, though - being eaten alive by mosquitoes and my back hates the guesthouse bed, but the wedding was beautiful and we've shared some great meals with assorted super-smart, fascinating people. (I am WAY out of my league - always have been with the friend in question - but like your excitement with Epstein, I just get so jazzed being around people who help me see things better, y'know?)

*hugs back*
Awww. But I suppose there will be pinch-hitting possibilities galore. Of course your reasons are... honourable and all. *grins*

It sounds you are having a great time, apart from the mosquitos, that are also having a great time, it seems. And the company (apart from the critters) might be worth suffering for, it seems.

Every little snippet of the Modernism puzzle is important to me, and this was more than a snippet I tell you. Even despite the whole post-modernism period and the hundred years since Epstein, it is abundantly clear how provocative his art was. Gill's not as interesting but unapologisingly erotic. Gaudier cubistic, but really stream-lined and anti-Victorian. Epstein had to disasseble Rock Drill because of a long dispute over its phallicness and un-art-ness. I am going to look into that, because it might say a lot about why people found it so provocative. /modernist enthusiasm
