poem: "Souvenir"

Today's NaPoWriMo prompt from Poetic Asides was "travel." I started to write about Amsterdam, but somehow ended up with this:

Souvenir

Last summer, while in Chicago, I gave away )

Oh, and I've got two cinquains in the new issue of AMAZE. One of them was inspired by the Japanese Festival of Seven Herbs.

In other news, all y'all can go ahead and laugh at me: I have indeed been staying up until stupid hours with part 3 of "Not As Dumb" -- and I think it's on the verge of done. (The smut's been deferred to part 4, however - there's a reason I've mentally labelled this fic "The One Where the Characters Will Not Shut Up"...). three things...

(1) An animated Snupin icon by [info]captain_tulip that appeared in one of this week's SnuSa story announcements. Sent me into a gigglefit, it did.

(2) Via [info]odogoddess: Murder In Style: The Costumes of Sweeney Todd. In the comments, there are references to "moose knuckles" and "trouser snakes" in references to the close-fitting breeches...

(3) Quick SnuSa rec: A Game of You (PG, 6000 words). Snape and Lucius make a bet regarding Snape's teaching prowess:

"You choose the subject. I choose the pupil."

"Very well. Breathing."

"I've reconsidered. I choose the subject. You the pupil."

"Hermione Granger."

"You have just lost all privileges of choice."

"And I will still win," Severus replied silkily.

"And if you don't?"

"I will endure the humiliation of brewing cosmetic potions for your family for a month. And if I do?"

"I will go without cosmetic potions for a month."
